Paul Luxenberg
American tuba player Paul Luxenberg has been the Principal Tuba player of the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra since 2001. For nearly two decades he has performed, recorded and toured extensively with the HK Phil. Luxenberg recently finished recording Wagner’s complete Ring Cycle with the HK Phil under Naxos recordings. He has also appeared with the New York and Los Angeles Philharmonic orchestras.
Luxenberg is an active soloist, chamber musician and teacher. He has given recitals and masterclasses in the United States, Hong Kong, China, Japan, Taiwan, Thailand and Singapore. He has also performed concerti as soloist with the HK Phil, Shanghai Broadcasting Symphony, Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts Wind Ensemble and other ensembles.
Luxenberg is Tuba player of the Hong Kong Philharmonic Brass Quintet since 2001 and a founding member of the Hong Kong Brass Quintet. He teaches at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts and previously taught at California State University Northridge.
He earned his Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from The Juilliard School.
