JULIÁN JIMÉNEZ

Trumpeter with the CCCN Jazz Orchestra

Graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in music with an emphasis in trumpet performance and teaching from the National University of Costa Rica. He is a professor of trumpet at the National University of Costa Rica, at the Ministry of Public Education of Costa Rica and director of the Concert Band of the Colegio La Salle Costa Rica.

He is currently a trumpeter with the CCCN Jazz Orchestra, with which he won first place in the Big Band College Division competition at the Next Generation Jazz Festival in Monterey, California. He has given master classes at the International Trumpet Festival Los Andes de Ecuador 2021, Cedar music Fest in Colombia 2021, at the international meeting of trumpet,
trombone and euphonium of the Universidad del Atlántico in Barranquilla Colombia 2020, for the trumpet players association of Cusco Peru 2021, Meeting of Instrumentalists Santa Cruz Costa Rica 2020 and was a speaker at the 1st round table
“Rafael Méndez Arceo” of the Autonomous University of Fresnillo, Mexico 2023.

Internationally, he has participated with artists such as Ed Calle, Félix Pastorius, Maelo Ruiz, Julio Sabala, the sonorous Dinamita, the group Lutherieces from Argentina, Rubén Simeo and Rex Richardson. In Costa Rica he has played with groups such as Malpais, Son de Tikizia, Son Sax, the Tenors, Lubin Barahona Orchestra, Erick Sánchez y su Orquesta, Ensamble Urbano, La Selección among others.

He has participated as a guest trumpet player in the concert bands of Heredia, Alajuela, Cartago and San José of the Ministry of Culture of Costa Rica. As a recording musician he has participated in more than 100 productions including an
album with the CCCN Jazz Orchestra and maestro Ed Calle, he has participated in audiovisual productions with Yturides Vilchez, Lenin Izaguirre, Tony Succar and Pablo Gil.
